91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Polytechnic Universitytechnic Professor and Author to Discuss Her Book on 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Environmentalist

LAKELAND – 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­Professor Dr. Peggy Macdonald will discuss her new book, β€œMarjorie Harris Carr: Defender of 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­β€™s Environment,” at 7 p.m., Jan. 15, at 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Southern College.

Dr. Macdonald is the invited guest speaker in the next lecture in the 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Lecture Series, sponsored by the Lawton M. Chiles, Jr., Center for 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ History. The lecture is free and open to the public.

In β€œMarjorie Harris Carr: Defender of 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­β€™s Environment,” Dr. Macdonald profiles the scientist and environmentalist who led campaigns to protect and restore the Ocklawaha River and stop the draining of Lake Alice in Gainesville. The University Press of 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ published the book in 2014.

Her essay on First Lady Ann Scott will be included in a new collection of biographies about 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­β€™s First Ladies, and is forthcoming from the University Press of 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­. At 91ΒιΆΉΣ³»­ Polytechnic University, Dr. Macdonald works as an advisor with the Academic Success Center. She also serves as the University’s Historian.
