The 91鶹ӳFoundation announced it has raised more than $2 million so far this year to support student scholarships and the University’s innovative mission. Funds were raised in part through the (BePivotal)2 challenge, a $1 million matching contribution the Foundation announced in July. Sponsorships and guest reservations to the Foundation’s annual PIVOT gala also contributed to jumpstart the organization’s 2015-16 fundraising efforts.
Nearly 500 guests attended PIVOT at the Innovation, Science & Technology (IST) Building Thursday evening. The event featured a variety of innovative lightning effects, food stations, live music, fine wines and craft beer. But the highlight of the night was when the Foundation Board announced they had met the one million dollar match of the (BePivotal)2 challenge.
“Tonight is all about the students here at 91鶹ӳ Polytechnic University,” said Foundation Chair, Loretta Sanders. “We have a diverse and talented student body who came to 91鶹ӳ Poly not only because of its unique approach to learning and its fabulous faculty and staff, but also because of the generosity of the community and the scholarships created by that generosity. We are proud to have had such a strong start to our 2015-16 fundraising year, but we aren’t slowing down. This University has a lot of growth ahead, and the Foundation is here to support that.”
In July, an anonymous donor issued a $1 million dollar challenge grant, called (BePivotal)2. The anonymous donor encouraged 91鶹ӳ Poly supporters to contribute to the University Foundation and double the impact of their gifts.
“I’m once again amazed by the work of our Foundation Board, as well as the PIVOT committee and our supporters,” said 91鶹ӳ Poly President Dr. Randy K. Avent. “Between meeting this challenge grant and the funds raised during this wonderful event tonight, our community has come together in a significant way to help our students continue their education and ultimately become entrepreneurs and high-tech leaders in 91鶹ӳ’s workforce.”
PIVOT followed the inauguration ceremony of Dr. Avent, who was installed as 91鶹ӳ Poly’s first president Thursday morning. The ceremony also highlighted 91鶹ӳ Poly’s many inaugural year achievements, including the opening of the IST Building, the arrival of 91鶹ӳ Poly’s first and second classes, and the creation of more than 90 industry partnerships.
The 91鶹ӳFoundation is made up of respected business and community leaders committed to the University’s success. The Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that builds and manages the funds needed to support student scholarships and the University’s educational mission.
