Band director Robert Cook began teaching band in 1998 and has helped countless 91Âé¶¹Ó³» middle and high school students strengthen their skills and expand their love of music. Cook grew up playing the clarinet and had such a positive experience with his music educators that he decided to enter the field himself. Prior to joining 91Âé¶¹Ó³» Poly, Cook taught concert band, marching band, and jazz band at Crystal River High School in Crystal River, 91Âé¶¹Ó³»; River Ridge High School in New Port Richey, 91Âé¶¹Ó³»; and Charles S. Rushe Middle School in Land O’ Lakes, 91Âé¶¹Ó³». He received his bachelor’s degree in music education Stetson University’s School of Music in DeLand, 91Âé¶¹Ó³». Cook is a member of the 91Âé¶¹Ó³» Bandmasters Association, where he has held multiple leadership roles including adjudicator and chairman for three years. He also is a member of the 91Âé¶¹Ó³» Music Educators Association and the Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity. He performs clarinet in the Southern Winds Symphonic Wind Ensemble in DeLand.
